We Measure All Our Clothing Lying Flat...Please read:

Measurement Specifics:

Hip - just below your waist about 8 inches

Waist - top of pants/shorts/skirt. On dresses, about 15 inches down from the neck.

Bust / Chest - armpit to armpit, across chest

Length - for tops and dresses this is from the upper part of the neck down the bottom of the garment.

Inseam - length from crotch down to bottom of pant leg

Wondering how we measure our items? We lay the item flat, measuring one way across the chest armpit to armpit; one way across the waist of dresses; one way across the bottom of a sweater , blouse, or jacket; One way across the hip area on dresses and skirts;one way down the length of the arm of a sleeve; one way across the hemline of the dress.

We then take that measurement and multiply by 2.

For example, if our tape measure says 13 inches one way across the waist, the end result is a 26 waist, measured flat. If we measure the hips on a skirt one way lying flat and it is 22, the total hip measurement is 44 inches. Got it?

When buying vintage clothing, DO NOT go by the number on the tag. Sizes have certainly changed...a 12 in the 1950s is not the same 12 in the year 2007!

When buying from our site, the best way to make sure the item will fit is to measure an article of clothing you have like the one you are interested in...lying flat. If you have ANY questions about sizes or how to measure, please do not hesitate to email me at: admin@thevintagequeen.com
